D-Tech Customs in the news ~ Paraphrased from Nicole Blauw, The Reader
Brian Davis is a Computer Numerical Control Machinist. The 42-year-old's career started with an interest in the mechanics of bikes and cars at a young age. It's more than manipulating metal though. "Mathematics is a very big part of what I do," he said, "a person would need to be very mechanically inclined," to pursue this career.
Two degrees in machine tool technology at Southeast Community College combined with some work experience, Davis gained the skills to realize this dream and start his own business, D-Tech Customs.
Together with girlfriend Melinda Paproski, whom Brian credits for keeping him focused, he bought a CNC machine and begun work in their two-car garage in Fort Calhoun where their spare time is spent fanning the flames of a fledgling dream.
Brian Davis often meets with clients to get images, ideas, or merely a sketch in which he uses his imagination and talents to prouce a CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) drawing. Once approved, Brian plots exact paths to run on the CNC machine, a process that must be exact within .001 percent to produce a successful product.
Meanwhile Melinda can be found making all sorts of custom artwork and original pieces often made from the scraps of Brian's work. Sculptures hang on the walls of their home, some made from discarded copper rings, others from a old headboard.
Together, they share the philosophy of "if you can dream it, we can do it." From constructing a massive abstract art piece out of stainless stell to scanning a photo of a man's tattoo to engrave in an aluminum plate for his bike.
D-Tech Customs, Inc. is capable of doing just about any special custom project that someone has in mind, whether it's a hot rod part, a motorcycle part, or a tool. We're able to create and modify just about anything.
